Metropolitan Educational Consulting Group, LLC (MEC Group) is a collaborative team (Theodra Washington, Jen Hursey and Maria Colchao). They have over 30 years of combined experience working with independent, public, parochial, charter schools and nonprofit organizations. MEC Group provides testing, collaborative educational consulting to families and school placement to students from preschool through college.
MEC Group’s unique Collaborative Consulting approach has the ability to bring a tester and/or school consultant into the room with families. Either way, families will benefit from the expertise of the group. With them working collaboratively, they are able to listen individually and collectively, discern needs, and identify areas in which clients require support and guidance — academic, social, emotional, or a combination of all three – prior to identifying the right fit in terms of school placement
At MEC Group, they know that every family and child has a unique story. So, they take the time to listen carefully to your story and to consider your needs before offering you a “pathway” to access the best educational services throughout the admission process and your child’s educational journey. Because they understand the wide-ranging impact of educational placement and programming decisions, they know that it is essential to place each student in a school that allows him or her reach their highest potential.
Metropolitan Educational Consulting Group, LLC is an independent group. MEC Group accepts no fees, commissions or remunerations from schools as a result of student placement.
“I wanted to let you know that my son continues to excel at his new school. He is now a fifth-grader and has all A’s in his academic subjects, has been referred to enrichment classes for additional challenging material, and is now being recommended for the Johns Hopkins Program for Talented Youth. He really enjoys being down in the country on the 153-acre campus and his success shows that it is a ‘good fit.’ I just like to send you reminders from time-to-time that your work has a real impact. If you ever encounter a family who needs a reminder that it will be okay, you can cite us as an example and also have them contact me”
